You probably know that OBS is one of the most popular platforms for live streaming. Although it has been available for mac OS users for quite some time, OBS currently only fully supports Mac computers with Intel processors. However, OBS recently released the first Beta Version called OBS Studio 28. Not only does it run on the Apple Silicon Chipset, but it also contains new features.

As the developers of OBS have said, Apple Silicon Chipsets will be fully supported for OBS at the end of the latest Beta Update of OBS Studio. This means that Macs with M1 and M2 chips will experience a significant performance boost when using OBS.

Apple Macs currently use Rosetta to run applications designed for Intel without major problems in most cases. However, this means that these applications cannot take advantage of the full functionality of Apple Silicon Chipsets. When an application is fully supported by Apple Silicon Chipset, it not only runs faster but also consumes less power. It is very useful for MacBook users.

New features of this 28 beta version include support for 10-bit HDR video and support for the new Screen Capture Kit API for high-performance screen capture on mac OS.

However, the OBS Studio 28 update also drops support for OBS with Windows 7 and 8, mac OS 10.13 and 10.14, and Ubuntu 18.04. Also, it will no longer support 32-bit operating systems.
